Ripe for
every
swell.

Surf wax grown, not refined. Five fruity formulas, each matched to the water you paddle into – from artic waters to reef breaks in Bali.

The sweetest way to stay on board.

grip happens.

Gripfruit is surf wax grown, not refined. We blend organic beeswax, pine resin and cold-pressed coconut oil, tint it with plant pigments and scent it with real fruit. No paraffin, no petroleum, no plastic wrap.

Each bar is shaped like a mango and grown like a coral, with dozens of deep little cups that bite into your palm and a groove along the spine that glides over your rails. Pick your fruit by the water temperature, cross-hatch a fresh top coat – and your board smells like summer, even in January.

shape & structure

be held.

Every bar fits a closed hand. The flat back rests in your palm, the rounded belly presses the wax into the deck, and the thumb rest on top shows you where to grip. Dozens of coral cups – each about a centimetre across – hold on to wet, cold fingers, so the bar never slips. The groove along the spine runs over your rails like a guide.

Which wax when?

Colder water needs softer wax, warmer water a firmer one. Check the water temperature, not the air – and when in doubt, go one step colder.

good questions.

Everything about grip, fruit and finding the right wax for your water.

Which Gripfruit wax is right for my water?

Pick by water temperature, not air temperature: the colder the water, the softer the wax.

  • arctic blue berry – polar water below 10 °C / 50 °F
  • fresh cold kiwi – 10–14 °C / 50–57 °F
  • passion fruit cool – 14–19 °C / 57–66 °F
  • strawberry warm – 19–24 °C / 66–75 °F
  • mango tropical – above 24 °C / 75 °F

Right on the line between two? Go one step colder – a slightly softer wax grips better than one that’s too hard.

How do I wax my board?

Start on a clean, dry deck, build a base with diagonal strokes, then finish with small circles.

Rub the edge of the bar in a diagonal cross-hatch over the area where your feet and chest go. Then work over it in light circles until small bumps form – those bumps are your grip.

Before every session, a few fresh strokes on top are enough. If the wax looks flat and shiny, roughen it up with a wax comb before you add more.

When should I switch wax – and how do I get the old one off?

Switch when the water moves into another temperature range. Going colder, you can wax straight over the old coat; going warmer, remove the softer wax first.

Soft cold-water wax turns greasy in warm water, and a firmer formula won’t hold on top of it. Leave the board in the sun for a few minutes, scrape the wax off with the flat edge of a wax comb and wipe off the rest with a cloth and a little coconut oil. Then start fresh with your new fruit.

What’s in it – and what isn’t?

Five ingredients from plants and bees: organic beeswax, pine resin, cold-pressed coconut oil, plant pigments and real fruit extracts.

No paraffin, no petroleum, no microplastics, no synthetic fragrance – and no plastic wrap around the bar.

The recipe changes with the water temperature: the cold-water formulas contain more coconut oil to stay soft, the tropical one more beeswax and resin to stay firm.

Is Gripfruit vegan?

No. Every bar is built on organic beeswax, which gives the wax its natural tack.

The beeswax comes from organic beekeepers. Everything else in the bar – resin, coconut oil, pigments and fruit extracts – is plant-based.

Why is the bar shaped like that?

Because it’s made to be held: shaped like a mango, grown like a coral.

Dozens of deep little cups cover the front and sides and bite into your palm, even with wet, cold hands. The thumb rest on top shows you where to hold it, the groove along the spine glides over your rails when you wax the edges, and the rounded belly makes it easy to work in circles.

Will the wax melt in the car or in the sun?

Any surf wax softens in the heat – keep your bar cool and out of direct sun.

Don’t leave it on the dashboard or in a parked car. Mango tropical has the highest melting point of the range, but even that one prefers the shade.

Between sessions, keep your board in a board bag or deck-down in the shade, so the top coat stays grippy.

Can I use Gripfruit on any board?

Yes – on shortboards, fish, longboards, guns, SUPs and skimboards alike.

Wax wherever your feet stand and your hands grab. Areas covered by a traction pad don’t need wax. On soft-tops, a thin coat gives you extra grip, too.
